Trends for 2008
The most recent trends in wedding flowers this year – pretty in
pink! Cantaloupe and salmon pink roses make a beautiful
wedding bouquet and look great in pictures. Or imagine your
bridesmaids carrying a beautiful hand-tied bouquet of pink
dahlias and peonies secured with silk ivory ribbon. Pink
Gerbera Daisies are perfect for a garden wedding. Also hot
this year, orchids, orchids and more orchids. This beautiful
delicate flower looks stunning in a corsage for the mother of
the bride or in a boutonnière on the lapel of the groom or
groomsmen. Hydrangeas are also making quite a statement
this year, in beautiful shades of pale blues and pinks.
HAMILTON FLORISTS & WEDDING FLOWERS

Wedding Belle Network
Hamilton, Ontario Edition
The ultimate resource for planning Hamilton weddings
Grandma always told us “ stop and smell the flowers”, but when planning a wedding,
there’s rarely time. There are scores of florists specializing in wedding flowers in
Hamilton, Burlington and Oakville, so this should make the task a lot easier.
Hiring a florist
Hiring a florist requires you to make a mountain of decisions
about your wedding flowers, so you are best to do some
research ahead of time. Get an idea of the style and colours
that you are looking for and bring magazine cutouts with you.
If you have a particular flower, or flowers in mind, ask how well
they will hold up during the day. Certain fresh flowers such as
tulips and irises (and other delicate flowers), must be kept in
water throughout the day, and this is often difficult with
bouquets while riding around in a limo between photo
locations (and remember, taking pictures can take a few
hours). If choosing these types of flowers you will also need
to put the bouquets in vases once your arrive at the reception, to avoid having them wilt
before the seafood bisque is served.
Up & Coming Talent
Hamilton and Burlington offer hundreds of florists offering wedding flowers, each
with a unique style. If you are looking for something ultra-modern and chic, look for
designs by Sabrina Gaeta and Creative Blooms. The Hamilton native is bringing
distinct and original designs to the forefront. Incorporating innovative designs and a
flair for all things floral, Sabrina is one of Hamilton’s up and coming.
Wildflowers are the trend in centerpieces. Many brides are choosing tightly wrapped
bouquets over cascading bouquets.
Don't Forget to Decorate!
Wedding flowers, bouquets and centerpieces are traditional, but don’t forget to
beautify your receiving and gift tables too. Many florists will offer additional décor or
work in conjunction with decorators for the perfect look. A combination of flowers
and candles is beautiful. For more information on decorating visit the decor page.
Decorating with Candles
When incorporating candles into
the decor, most places will
require the flame be enclosed in
glass (as a safety precaution)
